NOTECARDS AND PRINTS

It's a great thrill to have something printed, and I love to create block prints. The notecards below are available as both as packs of note cards including all the same or mixed images, or as a 5" x 7" matted and framed print. I am also a professional picture framer, since I'm touchy about anyone else handling my pastel drawings, so I do all of my own framing. All framing includes a quality wood or metal frame with real glass and acid-free mat and backing. I have represented the images here as best as I can, although the papers on which they are printed didn't scan too well, so I've included a description. Eventually, I will have prints of some of the other images on this site available. Click on the logo or link to find out more information about the three lines of cards I have listed below.

Awakening

Quote reads: "'Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened.'--Anatole France. Dedicated to my prince and princess and all those since who've awakened their part of my soul."

"Awakening" is inspired by my close companions Kublai and Sally who ran the household together for about 12 years and who actually slept curled like this. Aside from the fact that they were both loving, friendly and social, they were complete opposites in the way they expressed this love and were as different in temperament as they were in color and texture as the loose reference to yin and yang illustrates. In their own ways they nurtured about 30 foster cats of widely differing ages and social abilities, just as they nurtured me in the years they shared my life. ("Kublai" is somehow derived from the word for "prince" in Sanskrit, and "Sally" is derived from the word for "princess"--Sarah--in Hebrew.)

Tortie Cats

TORTIE CATS HAND-PRINTED AND HAND-PAINTED T-SHIRTS

I am unendingly inspired by my houseful of felines, especially those two tortoiseshell calicos. The framable prints, T-shirts and textiles are printed by hand by the artist from hand-cut linoleum block, then each individually is hand-painted in bright colors with colorfast fabric dyes.
Because of the nature of the medium, each print is unique and ink coverage is not always perfect. Most artists consider this random activity to be part of the process of creating an individualized print, and along with the hand-painting makes a unique wearable work of art. All shirts are printed on heavyweight white 100% cotton, fabric and shirt Made in the USA. All textiles are various cottons, all Made in the USA.

"The Goddess"
Well, everyone knows a fat cat who knows she’s beautiful, and Cookie would tell you that a woman with a round shape was once most desirable and an object of worship.

"The Roundest Eyes"
Sometimes when I look at Kelly the only feature I can distinguish in all those tortie markings is her extremely round eyes.

Bright sun on anything will inspire me, especially when it's shining on one of my cats. Card size is 4-1/2" x 6-1/4" with four-color art faithfully reproduced on cream cover, envelopes are provided to match. Click here or on the logo above for details and ordering information.

After Dinner Nap, A Warm Bath, A Rosy Glow, The Little Sunflower

These pen and ink drawings are printed in black on natural recyclable cotton 80 lb. cover and are blank inside. Card size is 4-1/2" x 6-1/4" and envelopes are provided to match. Click here or on the logo above for details and ordering information.

Pansy, The Big Game Hunter, "I Like Your Spots" and They Miss You When You're Gone

These are block prints and are printed in different colors on different papers. They are entirely hand-made, from the printing to the trimming and packaging, but I haven't yet come up with a hand-made paper that was rigid enough to hold up as a card. I update the artwork on this page as I create new works. While trying to view this page in as many browsers and on as many monitors as possible, plus trying to keep my artwork clear but not so big that it takes all day to download, I have found that each picture changes with each variation. I hope that what you see here is clear and inviting.
